Qyo Qyo Tangerine Bright+Moist FOAM CLEANSER

Washing your face often feels like a routine chore—an obligatory part of daily life that many rush through—until you incorporate a Korean cleanser into your skincare routine. Suddenly, this simple task becomes a delightful mini spa experience, offering not just cleansing but also a moment of self-care and indulgence. Korean cleansers have gained popularity worldwide, mainly due to their gentle formulations that focus on skin health and the innovative, often unique, ingredients they include. Many K-beauty cleansers reflect the holistic Korean skincare philosophy, which emphasizes prevention and maintenance rather than just addressing existing skin issues. This approach encourages users to take a proactive stance on skincare, aiming for the long-term health and vitality of the skin.

However, navigating the world of authentic Korean skincare products outside of Korea can present its own set of challenges. The booming Global K-beauty industry, now valued at over $100 billion, has inadvertently led to the proliferation of copycat products. These imitations often lack the quality and authenticity of genuine Korean formulations and are frequently manufactured outside of Korea. Distributors like Amazon, which stands as the world’s largest retailer by annual revenue, are inundated with these counterfeit items, making it increasingly difficult for consumers to find trustworthy products that truly reflect the essence of K-beauty.

Recently, I was fortunate enough to stumble upon the Tilda Beauty pop-up shop at my neighborhood mall, a delightful find that showcased a curated K-beauty experience featuring an array of trendy Korean skincare and beauty brands. This shop provided a unique opportunity to explore authentic products that might otherwise be hard to come by. Among the many items I purchased to test was the Qyo Qyo Tangerine Bright+Moist FOAM CLEANSER, a product proudly manufactured in the Republic of Korea by Skin n Skin Co., Ltd. This particular cleanser piqued my interest due to its unique formulation and the reputation of the brand.

Qyo Qyo is a skincare brand inspired by Jeju Island, known for its unspoiled beauty and unique fruit known as Jeju tangerines. These nutrient-rich tangerines are praised for their vivid color and superior quality. Qyo Qyo utilizes this fruit to develop a gentle and effective skincare line aimed at nourishing, revitalizing, and enhancing the skin's natural glow.

The Qyo Qyo cleanser boasts an impressive ingredient list that includes: Water, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Sorbitol, Lauric Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Myristic Acid, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycol Distearate, Polyquaternium-7, 1,2-Hexanediol, Beeswax, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, Fragrance, Phytosteryl/Octyldodecyl Lauroyl Glutamate, Chlorphenesin, Squalane, BHT, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Carrageenan, Agar, Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, Disodium EDTA, Tocopheryl Acetate, Mica, CI 77492, Titanium Dioxide, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Arginine, Dioscorea Villosa (Wild Yam) Root Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Carbomer, Gold, and Sodium Hydroxide.

One of the key active ingredients in this cleanser is hesperidin, a potent bioflavonoid antioxidant that is found in high concentrations in the peel of tangerines (Citrus reticulata). Hesperidin is revered in the skincare community for its multitude of benefits, including its powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and brightening properties. This ingredient is particularly effective at improving microcirculation, which can help reduce under-eye dark circles and strengthen the skin barrier. It is often incorporated into anti-aging products due to its ability to boost collagen production and provide protection against UV damage, making it a valuable addition to any skincare routine.

So, how did the product perform when I finally put it to the test?

Upon application, I found it to be a soft, rich creamy cleanser that produced a satisfying foam even with just a small amount of product. However, I must admit that I did not particularly care for the tangerine peel scent; it was not the refreshing, zesty citrus aroma I had anticipated. Nonetheless, the cream cleanser glided effortlessly over my skin, effectively cleaning away residue and unclogging my pores. It rinsed off easily with warm water, leaving my skin feeling clean, although slightly dry. This underscores the importance of following up your cleansing routine with a toner and a good moisturizer to restore hydration and maintain the skin's balance.

I will keep this cleanser on hand to help wash away makeup and dirt accumulated on my skin when needed. In addition to its makeup-removing capabilities, this cleanser is also adept at eliminating dirt and impurities that build up on the skin throughout the day. Environmental pollutants, sweat, and excess oil can contribute to clogged pores, leading to breakouts and dull skin. By using this cleanser as needed, I can maintain a clear complexion and prevent these issues from arising.

On a daily basis, however, I plan to use a different cleanser, one that is specifically designed for regular use and is more hydrating. This alternative cleanser will focus on maintaining my skin's natural moisture balance, ensuring that it does not dry out or become irritated with frequent washing.

You can purchase a tube of the Tangerine Bright+Moist FOAM CLEANSER directly from the Qyo Qyo website to guarantee you receive the genuine product.
