Collagen Night Wrapping Mask

In my ongoing quest to discover the best skin products available on the market and to share my comprehensive findings with you, I recently had the opportunity to try the Collagen Night Wrapping Mask (2.53 fl.oz/ 75ml) by Yuri Korean Beauty. This product piqued my interest due to its claims of providing intensive overnight hydration and rejuvenation, which is a key aspect of any effective skincare routine.

Earlier, I cautioned you to thoroughly investigate companies that claim to be authentic Korean skin care brands. This is particularly important because there are countless organizations that falsely market themselves as such, attempting to capitalize on the booming $2 billion dollar plus K-Beauty trend, which has gained immense popularity worldwide. It is essential to be discerning and informed to avoid falling victim to misleading marketing tactics.

Upon visiting the Yuri Korean Beauty website, I discovered that their customer service operations are managed under the umbrella of Hyperoas LLC, which is located at 3308 Pine Valley Way, Piscataway, NJ 08854. This address, while presented as a legitimate business location, raised some red flags for me during my research.

However, when I attempted to search for Hyperoas LLC, I came up empty-handed. It appears that this organization does not exist in any official capacity, not even in the U.S. trademark archives, which further deepened my concerns regarding their legitimacy. A little more digging revealed that "Yuri Korean Beauty," often referred to as YURIWOORI, is a brand that markets itself as "Real Korean Skincare." Despite its branding, it turns out that the company is based in India, rather than being a company with its headquarters in South Korea, as one would expect from a product of this nature.

Perhaps this lack of transparency regarding the place of manufacture is why the product packaging and the tube itself do not list any manufacturing details. Recent consumer reviews on Trustpilot have raised significant scam alerts, with users reporting experiences of being "tricked into monthly subscriptions" and receiving products that were allegedly made in China instead of South Korea. Such revelations are concerning and warrant caution for potential buyers.

So, it appears I may have been scammed once again in my pursuit of quality skincare. However, putting that aside for the moment, let us delve into a review of the product itself, which is priced at $32.99 and includes a handy application brush/spatula.

The Collagen Wrapping Mask is specifically designed for nighttime skincare routines and is commonly utilized as a peel-off face mask before sleep. The company claims that its formulation is rich in moisturizing ingredients and botanical extracts, all aimed at helping to maintain skin hydration and leaving the skin feeling soft and rejuvenated after overnight use.

To use the mask effectively, you should begin by cleansing your face and following your usual skincare routine up to the toner or cream application. Next, apply an even layer of the mask gel using the provided brush/spatula, taking care to avoid contact with your eyes, lips, hairline, and brows. Allow the mask to set for approximately 15 minutes before leaving it on overnight. In the morning, you can gently peel it off or rinse your face with lukewarm water for easy removal.

Being cautious and mindful of potential allergic reactions, I first applied a small amount of the gel to my hand and allowed it to dry overnight. This initial test yielded no adverse reactions, which gave me the confidence to apply the product to my face as directed.

The ingredient list on the box includes aqua, glycerin, centella asiatica leaf extract, triethanolamine, carbomer, and collagen. Each of these components plays a significant role in the overall efficacy of the mask.

Centella asiatica leaf extract, commonly known as Gotu Kola or Tiger Grass, is a powerful, natural skincare ingredient that is rich in triterpenes, including asiaticoside, madecassoside, and asiatic acid. This ingredient primarily functions to intensely soothe, heal, and hydrate the skin while promoting collagen synthesis, making it ideal for treating sensitive, acne-prone, and aging skin.

Triethanolamine (TEA) is a viscous, colorless-to-yellowish organic compound that is commonly utilized as a pH adjuster, emulsifier, and surfactant in cosmetics, lotions, shampoos, and detergents. It is highly soluble in water and functions to stabilize oil-in-water emulsions. While it is generally considered safe in low concentrations, it can potentially cause skin and eye irritation and may form carcinogenic nitrosamines when used with certain preservatives, which is something to keep in mind.

Carbomer is a high-molecular-weight, synthetic acrylic acid polymer that is primarily used as a thickener, stabilizer, and suspending agent in cosmetics, skincare products, and pharmaceuticals. It creates clear, smooth gels, such as those found in hand sanitizers, lotions, and creams, by absorbing large amounts of water and increasing in volume. Generally regarded as safe, it can still cause mild skin or eye irritation at higher concentrations.

When I woke up the following morning, I rinsed the mask off with warm water and gently patted my skin dry with a soft towel. The mask rinsed off easily, and I could feel that the centella asiatica leaf extract had left my skin feeling soft and supple. This was a pleasant surprise, as I had my doubts after the initial research.

I plan to continue using this product as part of my regular skincare routine until the entire product is used up. However, will I continue using it afterwards? Likely not, given the concerns surrounding the brand's transparency and authenticity.
